Founded in 1873 and headquartered in Kohler, Wisconsin, Kohler Co. is a global leader in manufacturing kitchen and bath products, with a portfolio extending into industrial equipment.

International shipping demands strict, market-specific compliance and localization. During fulfillment, warehouse workers must assemble packing lists alongside required regulatory documentation. Without pre-configured documentation for a destination country, orders must often be canceled or delayed while new, dedicated SKUs are created. This manual bottleneck creates complex inventory overhead, forfeits global sales, and prevents seamless worldwide fulfillment.

Our Ship Anywhere: AI Export Compliance Assistant is an internal web application that automates this workflow using generative AI. When an international order is received, the app verifies destination requirements and dynamically generates localized compliance documents by referencing existing collateral from Kohler’s global catalog. This eliminates manual authoring delays while integrating with Kohler’s existing fulfillment pipeline.

The application provides a guided work-instructions dashboard where warehouse workers can generate, inspect, and print required documentation simply by entering an order code.

Additionally, an administrator view enables operational teams to track platform metrics, monitor generation activity, and visualize fulfillment analytics. Completed shipments seamlessly synchronize with the dashboard, maintaining a comprehensive compliance audit trail across all international orders.

The system features a front end built with React and TypeScript, paired with a Python Flask back end backed by PostgreSQL. Document generation is powered by Azure OpenAI using retrieval-augmented generation, and the platform is deployed via Kohler’s Azure Static Web Apps.
